In the context of our ongoing series of Fachsemesters on Swiss Coloniality, we are inviting two guests for an afternoon discussion on the entanglements of Switzerland with the history of global colonialism.

We will discuss in particular the role of exhibiting traces of the past in researching these entanglements and engaging with a wider audience. Artist-researcher Denise Bertschi will talk about her long-standing work on the topic, which resulted in the monograph STRATA. Mining Silence (2020) and her recently completed doctoral dissertation at EPFL Lausanne. Historian Monique Ligtenberg will share some of her currently ongoing work for an exhibition on colonialism in ETH history and will present some of the traces of colonialism hidden in the underground collections.

All welcome to join the discussion!
